Microsoft Points

I was thinking about all the MS Points I've spent in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and realized that I didn't pay for a lot of those points. I usually get the 1600-point cards at the store. Only once did I pay through my Xbox for points.

The first card I got was a gift for Christmas, just after the Xbox 360 launched. Cool. Then I found some cards at Target for only $14 instead of $20. I gave one away and used the other one or two (I forgot). The next Christmas rolls around and I get another card, only this card was one that managed to get out the door without costing the purchaser (honest mistake from what I heard). Recently, I ordered Halo 3 and a 1600-point card with a $15 discount when purchased together. I had some issues with a scratched disc and ended up walking away with a free card. Sweet.

I have also paid less than necessary for Xbox LIVE. I got my first year through Costco at a discount. My second year I used a 12+1 card I bought for $40 instead of $50. I then added about six months using several one-month cards I found. Honestly, I think $50 a year to access XBL is reasonable, but a lot of kids think it should be free. Oh well. I think I'd rather have free MS Points.
